Supt DeVere Hunt, Trustee April Burton, Chief Financial Officer Kip Nelson, Trustee Guy Bliesner, Health & Safety Coordinator Valerie Messick, Board Clerk Dave Lent, Board Chair, called the meeting to order at 11:34. Deidre Warded moved to adopt the agenda as presented. Lisa Burtenshaw seconded the motion. Motion carried. Idaho Falls School District 91 and Bonneville Joint School District 93 Board of Trustees met today to receive findings of the consolidation study conducted by Education Northwest. Dr. Terri Akey, Ph. D., Co-Director, Center for Research, Evaluation and Assessment, presented the Feasibility Study of Consolidation for Idaho Falls (91) and Bonneville (93) School Districts (document attached) and commented that both districts are running quite efficiently. Consolidating the two districts would add an estimated 1.5 million annually to address salary equalization, around $600,000 to restructure the district and would also present tax implications for patrons of both districts. Alan Westenskow, Vice President Zion’s Bank Public Finance, reviewed the tax implications associated with consolidation of the districts. A discussion was held and a public meeting is scheduled for tonight, th August 17, at 7:00 PM at the Bonneville Performing Arts Center at Hillcrest High School to present the information to patrons and community members of both districts.
