AdiscussionwasheldandDaveLentaskedMrs.Caudletocheckwithstudentgovernment advisors,atbothIFHSandSHS,toseeifthestudentscouldmakepresentationoftheirviews regardingthenutritionpolicyforthesecondreadingofthispolicyinOctober.TheBoardwould alsolikeinformationregardingthetotalnumberoflunchesservedatthesecondarylevel,the numberoffreelunchesserved,thenumberofreducedlunchesservedandhowmanypayfull price.FayeOlsenwillgathertherequestedinformationforthesecondreadingscheduledin October. ii.BoardPolicy609‘Transfer/ForeignExchangeStudents TrinaCaudle,DirectorofSecondaryEducation,reviewedthatthecommitteewouldliketomake somerevisions,andadditions,tothecurrentpolicyinordertostrengthenit.Thereare companiesthatarenotfollowingprocedures,orbeingethical,whenrecruitingstudentsto participate.Theintentoftheforeignexchangeprogramisforthestudents,andfamilies,involved tohaveapositiveexperienceandpromoteculturalexchange.Thesecondreadingofthispolicy isscheduledforOctober. f.{Ò¦;©z“·;“7;“·x­Report SuperintendentBolandprovidedanenrollmentsummary,fromthesecondFridayofthenewschoolyear, reportingthatelementaryenrollmentisup,secondaryenrollmentisdownbutoverallthedistrict numbershavestayedrelativelyflat.ClaireEGaleJuniorHighenrollmentisdownto560students,three elementaryschoolscurrentlyhavelargerpopulations,andtheissueofbeingabletoprovidethesame curricularexperienceisbecomingveryacute.Theelementarynumberscontinuetogrowasexpected however,Þ;xÝ;notseenthegrowthinenrollmentthatwasprojectedinthedemographicstudydone earlier. TheSuperintendentalsosharedthathehadjustreturnedfromthefourthmeetingwiththeStudents ComeFirstTechnologyTaskForceCommitteeinBoise.TheStatewillbedispersing50%ofthefunds appropriatedinSenateBill1184,whichisnowIdahoCode331022,bytheendofSeptember.The amountpaidwillbecalculatedat$32perstudent,foratotalofapproximately$300,000.00tothedistrict, withthescheduledpaymentsinSeptember2011andJanuary2012. SuperintendentBolandreviewedupcomingmeetingsandeventsscheduledforthemonthstartingwitha th SpecialBoardMeetingonTuesday,September20,at4:00pm,foradebriefingwiththeExecutiveTour st GroupthatwillvisittheNewTechhighschoolinTexas.OnSeptember21theBoardwillhaveaJoint WorkSessionwithbuildingprincipalstoreviewthe7z­·©z-·x­vision,missionandgoalsandgettheirhelp updatingthatsectionofboardpolicy.OnSeptember22&23thedistricthasscheduledJamieVollmer, AuthorofthebookSchoolsCannotDoitAlone,topresentaseriesofemployeeandcommunity presentations.HeaddedthatthedistricthadreceivedacharterschoolpetitioninAugustandexplained thetimelineandprocessforaccepting,decliningorreferringthepetitiontotheStateCharterSchool 09/13/2011District91BoardMinutesPage 2 of 4 Commission.TheStatehascompletedasufficiencyreviewandnowthedistrictwillneedtoconducta qualitativereview,utilizingarubricprovidedbytheStateDepartment,beforeadecisioncanbemadeby theBoardofTrustees. CONSENTAGENDA: DeidreWardenmadeamotiontoapprovetheconsentagendaaspresented.LisaBurtenshawseconded. AdiscussionwasheldregardingtheMatchingFundRequest,submittedbyEthelBoyesElementary,forthe AcceleratedReaderyearlysubscription.SPFFfundsaretobeusedforcapitalexpendituresnotconsumablesor subscriptions.Themotiontoaccepttheconsentagendaaspresentedfailedunanimously. LisaBurtenshawmadeamotiontoamendtheconsentagenda,removingtheEthelBoyesElementaryAccelerated Readeryearlysubscriptionrequest.DeidreWardenseconded.Motionpassedunanimously.
