SPECIALORDERSOFTHEDAY: a.EmissaryofExcellence KarlaLaOrange,DirectorofElementary,thankedeveryoneforhelpingtomakeOneDistrictOneBooka success.Karlasharedthat4,159familiesinthedistrictreceivedacopyofTrumpetoftheSwantoreadat homewiththeirchildren.Ifeveryonereadthe300minutesallottedatotalof1,247,000minuteswould havebeenreadduringthemonthofFebruaryinthedistrict.Karlawantedtorecognizetwopeoplein particularforgoingtheextramiletohelpmaketheeventsosuccessful.First,CamiSmith,Education FoundationDirector,forherhelpwiththereceptionandalsohelpingtosecureadditionalfundsto purchasethebookssoparentswouldnothaveto.ThesecondpersonisMargaretWimborne, CoordinatorofCommunicationsandCommunityEngagement,whowasinstrumentalinconnectingus withtheradiostationandnewspapertogettheinformationaboutliteracyouttothecommunity. MargaretwasalsoabletoreachouttothelocalRotaryClub,whoprovidedfundingforawonderful receptiontokickofftheevent.
