Superinter~dent's Renort• Superintendent Manning reflected on l~is career of 38 years as an
~ educator. He affirmed his belief in children, teachers and the public school system. I:e quoted
three inspiring thou~hts regarding the education of children and the rewaxds of seeing "the light
came on'" in the rninds of children. Mr. Mannin~ then presented ~ifts to Dr. ,1ohn Murdoch, Ken
, Schow, the $oard of Trustees and Rosalyn McCandless as a reminder of their unique
contributions to the l7istrict and to the child in eaeh of them.

FY03 Budaet Renort• Assistant Superintendent Ken Schow intraduced the FY03 Bud~;et
Report. The ~nancial picture for the coming fiscal year was de~ned. The budget for the coming
year will be less than the previous budget and the contingency will drop ta under $1.5 million
because of decreasing state revenues and dropping enrollment. The econamic picture for the
district will include reductions in staf~ throu~h attritian as well as reductions in areas of fieid
trips, technology, travel and landscaping.
Comptroller Guy Wangsgard and Human Resources clerk Carrie Smith narrated a power point
presentation on the status of the district and the budget picture far PY03. Tn spite of dropping
enrollrnents and decreaseci funding, District 9l remains strong and offers an exc~llent education
to the students of the community through strong patron support and excellent teachers and
support staff.

FY03 Bud~et Adnption• It was moved by Ernest Jensen and seconded by Sharan Parry to adopt
the FY03 Budget in the amount of $b9,179,522 as presented. Motion passed.
