Special Board Meeting Minutes
December 7, 2000
IFEA Comments: 1FEA President Mary Farner reported that the vote to ratify the Negotiated
Master Settlement was 424-1. She noted that this was the highest number of voting members in the
history of the Association. Mrs. Farner and the Association feel that the process has improved lines
of communication and promoted a better relationship with the Board of Trustees.
ACTION ITEM
Ratification of the Negotiated Ma t r Settlement
The Board of Trustees expressed appreciation to both bargaining teams for their efforts to come to an
agreement. The settlement includes positive issues which will benefit children and staff. The fund
balance was addressed and the importance ofmaintaining a S% contingency was noted. It is the
Board's intent to include employees of the District in the actions~f the Board.
Chairman Reed noted that the Board has great respect for the teachers and hoped that any personal
feelings will be amended. He thanked everyone for all that they do.
It was moved by Ernest Jensen and seconded by Sharon Parry to accept the negotiated settlement as
explained to the Board of Trustees and to extend the same terms and conditions to the entire staff of
the district. Motion passed.
Mr. Jensen personally thanked members of both teams for the diligent efforts made m coming to this
agreement. There were many complex issues which both sides recognized and came to agreement
upon. When there are complex issues there are complex answers. He noted that the school board
also recognizes the need far remaining competitive in attracting and retaining the best qualified
personnel to work with our children. This is a good district and we wish to continue. Mr. Jensen
asked that these remarks be formally entered into the minutes of this meeting.

It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Robert Collette to adjourn the special meeting.
