HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000_01_25 Board MinutesBOARD OF TRUSTEES IDAHO FALLS SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 91 Board Meeting Minutes January 25, 2000 "Good News" School Program - 7:30 P.M. The Emerson Bay Scout Troop presented the colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Students from Mrs. Hubbell's class read Essays based upon the Pledge of Allegiance. Principal Steve Farner offered information about the programs and services available at En~crson School. The Emerson 5`h Grade Band led by IFHS Band Director Dave Burger, played several. numbers. Volunteer of the Month "Gramma Nette" a.k.a. Jeannette Hebertson was laonored by Emerson staff and the Board of Trustees far her efforts on behalf of the students. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA It was moved by Sharon Parry and seconded by Ernest Jensen to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion passed. CONSENT AGENDA It was moved by Ernest Jensen and seconded by Robert Collette to approve the rrainutes of the January 11, 2000, Business meeting as written. Motion passed. REPORTS Student Representatives: Idaho Falls and Skyline High School representatives presented Reports of activities and sports. Skyline Representative Anne Cheney invited the Trustees to meet with nraembers of the Skyline Student Council to discuss the proposed dress code. Two representatives from. Westview Alternative High School expressed appreciation for the programs offered at Westview. Superintendent's Report: Mr. Manning expressed appreciation to the students of District #91 for their accomplishments. He also informed the Trustees that an update regarding the proposed dress code would be presented at the February Board meeting. Superintendent Manning discussed the school calendar process and reported that a different format for developing the calendar will be implemented. A detailed calendar for the 2001.-02 calendar will be presented at the second Board meeting in September with adoption scheduled for the second meeting in October, 2000. Drafts of calendars for the two ensuing years (2002-03 and 2003-04) will also be presented to the Board of Trustees in September, 2000. • Page Two -Board Meeting Minutes January 25, 2000 ACTION ITEMS School Calendar 2000-01: It was moved by Ernest Jensen and seconded by Jerry Wixom to adopt the revised calendar as presented. The revisions allow a full week at spring break (April 9- 13, 2001) and the last day of school far students will be June $, 2001. Motion passed. 1FHS Band Uniforms: Chairman of the SPFF Committee Jerry Wixom reviewed the need to replace the Band uniforms for Idaho Falls High School. He noted that the SPFF Committee had reviewed the request and their recommendation was to allow an arnendrnent to the FY00 budget in the amount of $10,000 to assist with the purchase of these uniforms. An additional $10,000 will be designated from the FY01 budget for Skyline High School. It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Robert Collette to amend the FY00 budget within the School Plant Facility fund as recommended. Motion passed. Executive Session -Negotiations -Section 672345©, Idaho Code It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Sharon Parry to enter into Executive Session. Time: 8:21 P.M. Motion passed. Return to Regular Session It was moved by Robert Collette and seconded by Ernest Jensen to return to regular session. Motion passed. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Ernest Jensen to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. •
