Board Meeting Minutes
March 9, 1999
EXECUTIVE SESSION: Personnel, 5.67-2345(b), and Real Property, 5.67-2345(c), IDAHO
CODE
It was moved by Alan Reed and seconded by Jerry Wixom to enter Executive Session from
11:30 A.M. -- 12:00 P.M. to review a personnel item and discuss real property according to Idaho
Code. Motion passed.
It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Sharon Parry to go to Regular Session. Motion
passed. Tirne: 12:06 P.M.
OPENING CEREMONIES
Chairman Alan Reed led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA
It was moved by Alan Reed and seconded by Ernest Jensen to adopt the agenda with one
addition under Action Items. Motion passed.
SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY
The Board of Trustees and Administration honored employee of the Month Larry Hudman. Mr.
Hudman is the custodian at Bunker Elementary School. Bunker Principal Vince Howard and
Custodial Supervisor Gene Baird commented on the fine service Mr. Hudman provides at
Bunker.
CONSENT AGENDA
Approval of,Minutes: It was moved by Sharon Parry and seconded by Sue Fineman to approve
the minutes of February 23, 1999, as written. Motion passed.
Pa ment of Claims: It was moved by Ernest Jensen and seconded by Sharon Parry to approve
the payment of claims in the amount of $1,478,336.10. Motion passed.
Staff Action: It was moved by Sue Fineman and seconded by Ernest Jensen to approve the
following staff actions as recommended: Motion passed.
Job Share -- Edgemont 3rd grade: Tina Orme and Carrie Josten.
Resignation: Rebecca Larsen Seely, IFHS Social Studies
Letters of Intent: Authorization to send letters to tenured certified staff with the exception of
those staff members who are on probation.

REPORTS
SPFF Update: Assistant Superintendent Ken Schow reported on the following SPFF projects:
• Emerson Multi-purpose Room: Bid Opening April 12, 1999
• C. E. Gale Home Economics area: Bid Opening early May
• IFHS Heating System Upgrade -work will be ongoing to install line replacement.
• IFHS: noise reduction, door replacement, new sound system, remodel Home
Economics area, replace lockers and closed circuit security system.
* Specific recommendations will be made after the scheduled bid openings.
• Continued roof repairs.
Superintendent's Report: District 91 student Nathan Zohner has been invited to present his
science project to the Academy of Scientists at their meeting in Coeur d'Alene, ID.
AASA Convention: Mr. Manning reported that the convention was valuable and affirmed that
District 91 is meeting several of the characteristics of schools and school systems for the 21St
Century in the following areas:
• Strategic Planning
• Curriculum Writing
• Student Assessment/Achievement
• Continuous Improvement
INFORMATION/DISCUSSION ITEMS
Supplemental Levy information will be sent to all patrons residing within District 91 boundaries.
The election will be held March 23, 1.999, from Noon to 8:00 P.M. Polls will be open at Idaho
Falls and Skyline High Schools and all elementary schools. Absentee ballots are available until
11:00 A.M. on March 23 at the District Administration Office, 690 John Adams Parkway, during
regular business hours (8:00 - 5:00 P.M.)
ACTION ITEMS
Staff Action: It was moved by Sharon Parry and seconded by Sue Fineman to accept the
administrative recommendation to hold anon-renewal hearing for employee 99-A on March 25,
1999, from 9:00 - 1:00 P.M. in the Board Room of the Administration Office at 690 John Adams
Parkway, Idaho Falls.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Sue Fineman and seconded by Ernest Jensen to adjourn the meeting. Time:
12:38 P.M. Motion passed.
