HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002_01_08 Board MinutesIDAHO FALLS SCHOOL DISTRICT #91 BOARD OF TRUSTEES Board Meeting Minutes January 8, 2002 Executive Session: The Board of Trustees met in closed session to review a personnel matter according to S.67-2345(b), IDAHO CODE Opening Ceremonies Chairman Alan Reed led the Pledge of Allegiance. Adoption of the Agenda It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Ernest Jensen to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion passed. Consent Agenda It was moved by Ernest Jensen and seconded by Sharon Parry to approve all items covered by the Consent Agenda which included: December 11 and December 21 Board minutes and Payment of Claims. Motion passed. Reports Superintendent's Report: Superintendent Manning informed the Board of a training workshop for Board members and others which will be held at the Jefferson School District in Rigby ID on February 9, 2002, from 9:00 — 1:00 PM. All Board members who have an interest are invited to attend. The registration deadline is January 31, 2002. Action Items Award Bids - Network and Voice Over IP Equipment: It was moved by Robert Collette and seconded by Sharon Parry to award the bid for Network Equipment to Dexon, low bidder meeting specifications, in the amount of $99,568. The bid for Voice Over IP equipment was awarded to west, low bidder meeting specifications, in the amount of $64,217.85. Motion passed. Trustee Robert Collette requested that the Administration clarify the funding source for technology to staff and patrons. District technology hardware and :most software purchases are funded by money allocated specifically for technology and is not part of the General Fund. The bids that have been awarded are funded by E-rate rebates credited to the technology fund which is the federal governments intent for those funds. Most of the funds available for technology hardware and software purchases, such as State, ICTL and E-rate, are `soft' monies. Personnel Action: It was moved by Ernest Jensen and seconded by Sharon Parry to place Teacher `A', 2001-02 on probation beginning January 8, 2002 and continuing until Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at which time the administration will make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees. Motion passed. Adjournment It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Ernest Jensen to adjourn the meeting. Time: 12:23 P.M. Motion passed. 0 0 312.0 - School Properties Disposal Procedure when equipment, books, and materials become worn out, obsolete, surplus, or otherwise unusable in the schools, the Superintendent/designee may authorize their disposal in a manner to the District's best advantage, provided that the unit value of the item/items is not more than $1-9$0 $500. If values are in excess of those amounts, formal authorization for negotiated sale, or for putting the items to bid, will be obtained from the Board. If reasonable attempts to dispose of surplus properties fail to produce a monetary return to the District, the Superintendent is authorized to dispose of them in some other way that would be acceptable to good management practices.
