BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Board Meeting Minutes
June 11, 2002
Executive Session: The Board of Trustees met in executive session to review a
Personnel item, S67-2345(b), Idaho Code.
Openinz Ceremonies: Trustee Jerry Wixom led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Adoption of the Agenda: It was moved by Sharon Parry and seconded by Jerry Wixom
to approve the agenda with the addition of Patron Input. Motion passed.
Consent Agenda
It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Ernest Jensen to approve all items listed
under the Consent Agenda which included: May 28, 2002 Board Meeting Minutes,
Payment of Claims and Staff Action items. Motion passed.
Reports
Three patrons requested that the Board consider changing Section 204.2 —
Superintendent's Staff. In their opinion, the revision allows the superintendent too much
authority involving a wide variety of responsibilities.
IFEA
President Mary Farner reported that at a recent meeting with Association leadership, it
was determined that the revision of Policy 204.2.2 would allow the concentration of too
many areas of supervision under the superintendent's responsibilities if it is approved by
the Board of Trustees. It was noted that this policy limits the options for teacher
recourse. There is no division of power and the Board was asked to reconsider the
organization of District Office administrators.
Superintendent's Report: Superintendent Manning reported that the three graduation
exercises and the close of the school year went very well.
Information/Discussion Items
Policy Revisions — Second Reading: Dr. John Murdoch reviewed a summary of changes
to various policies.
612.3.1— Video Selection and Use, the Board recommended that a committee be
organized to review PG rated videos as needed to insure that they reinforce or enrich the
aligned curriculum. In addition, PG video use may be reviewed by the Curriculum
Committee of the Board. It was agreed that all videos should have a curricular purpose
and be tied directly to the adopted curriculum.
204.2 — Superintendent's Staff: The Board of Trustees requested that 204.2.2 — District
0 Organizational Duties, be removed from Board Policy and maintained as procedure.

Executive Session: It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Sharon Parry to
return to Executive Session. Time: 12:40 P.M.
Return to Opens Meeting: It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Sharon Parry
to return to open meeting. Motion passed.
Student Discipline: It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Ernest Jensen to
permit Student `B', 2001-02 to attend the alternative summer school. Student `B' will be
required to meet with the Board prior to the beginning of the 2002-03 school year for
consideration of re -admittance to high school. Motion passed.
Adjournment
It was moved by Jerry Wixom and seconded by Sharon Parry to adjourn the meeting.
Time: 1:12 P.M. Motion passed.
