Chairman Alan Reed called the meeting to order and welcomed all attending.
Dr. Murdoch summarized the last year's financial situation and the budget losses to District 491.
Dr. Murdoch distributed to the Board:
1) Worksheet used by administrators to determine priorities
2) Proposed Reductions
3) List of extra curriculum activity costs
4) Re -distribution of elementary teachers
5) Technology cuts made in the last year
In his discussion, Superintendent Murdoch detailed the budget cuts listed and the elementary
staffing levels. He stressed that the goal from the beginning is to protect the classroom. Safety
and hygiene will be protected, but cleanliness will need to be managed.
A general discussion followed regarding many areas of the budget. It was noted that the budget
hearing was set for the June 24, 2003 Board Meeting.
Ernest Jensen moved and Jerry Wixom seconded the motion to move to executive session.
Motion passed.
Jerry Wixom moved and Brian Crouch seconded the motion to return to open meeting. Motion
passed.
Sharon Parry moved and Ernest Jensen seconded the motion to adjourn. Motion passed.
