Of Instruction Craig Ashton, Superv. Of Instruction Guy Wangsgard, Business Lanae Jensen, Recording Secretary OPENING CEREMONIES The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jared Fuhriman. Superintendent Murdoch introduced Brad Jensen, Supervisor of Transportation. Mr. Jensen has recently been recognized by the State Board of Education for his expertise in guiding the District 491 Transportation Department through changes towards meeting state guidelines. Jared Fuhriman commended Mr. Jensen on his great contribution and congratulated him on his award. STUDENT TRAVEL Jerry Shively moved and Sharon Parry seconded the motion to approve student travel for the following groups: IFHS Expressions March 17-21, 2005 San Francisco, California IFHS Wrestling Team December 18-21, 2004 Reno, Nevada IFHS Cheerleading Squad March 4-7, 2005 Los Angeles, California Motion passed. CONSENT AGENDA Jerry Wixom moved and Jerry Shively seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda consisting of Board Meeting Minutes of October 26th and November 4th, and payment of claims. Motion passed. REPORTS Patron Input: John Carpenter, Melanie Hillam, and Alison Carpenter discussed the athletic eligibility of waiver students. Gene Lund, IFEA President, commended Brad Jensen, Transportation Supervisor, on his award. Mr. Lund reported that he has had various recommendations regarding the calendar, with no particular recommendation outweighing the others. He also discussed the State board proposal regarding pay for performance. Board Meeting — November 9, 2004 Page Two Superintendent's Report Dr. Murdoch introduced Randy Hurley, Principal of Idaho Falls High School. Mr. Hurley reported that District 91 has recently received from the U.S. Dept. of Education a safety grant of $98,605.00. Mr. Hurley distributed a safety pamphlet "A Guide for Schools and Commuity Safety." District 491 currently has a safety plan, which will be updated and include working with community resources. PROPOSALS 2005-06 and 2006-07 School Calendars The proposed calendars will be brought for an action item on the Nov. 23rd Board Meeting. ACTION ITEMS Student Travel Request — Acted upon earlier in the agenda FY 04 Financial Audit — Jerry Wixom moved and Sharon Parry seconded the motion to accept the FY04 Financial Audit performed by Galusha Higgins & Galusha. Motion passed. Sharon Parry moved and Jerry Wixom seconded the motion to set the following meetings: 1) Thursday, Nov. 11, at 6:30 p.m - General work session in the Boise Doubletree Riverside Opal Room 2) Tuesday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m at Taylorview Jr. High - Public Hearing on Policy 1003.4.3.C. 3) Thursday, December 2nd at the District Office - Work session to review Policy 1003.4.3.C. Motion passed. EXECUTIVE SESSION Jerry Shively moved and Jerry Wixom seconded the motion to move to Executive Session for discussion of Personnel Section S67-2345(B) IDAHO CODE. Motion passed. OPEN SESSION Jerry Shively moved and Sharon Parry seconded the motion to move to open session. Motion passed. Jerry Shively moved and Sharon Parry seconded the motion in reference to Teacher 2002-03B to accept the advisory arbitrator's recommendations numbers 1 and 2, and reject recommendations numbers 3 and 4. Motion passed. Jerry Shively moved and Jerry Wixom seconded the motion to adjourn. Motion passed.
