Dave Lent, Board Chair, called the meeting to order.
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Kris Smith.
Present from the Administration:
George Boland, Superintendent
Guy Wangsgard, Director of Business
Karla, LaOrange, Director of Elementary Education
Dana Wood, Director of Operations
Margaret Wimborne, Communications Specialist
Debbie Wilkie, Recording Clerk
Lisa Burtenshaw moved to accept the agenda as presented. Lisa Burtenshaw seconded the motion.
Four aye votes (Ernest Jensen arrived shortly after this.) Motion carried.
WORK SESSION
a. Community Conversation Debrief
Superintendent Boland led a discussion regarding the take -away from the public workshop, held last
Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Skyline High School to discuss facility challenges the district's facing. He
provided a copy of the "group memory" documentation, compiled by the facilitator Wendy Green Lowe,
to all in attendance. Things patrons want to see are transparency, accountability and innovation when
using taxpayers' money. Consolidation of districts, District 91 with Bonneville District 93, is still an issue
patrons would like more information about. Superintendent Boland has been gathering information
regarding a feasibility study required by the State, no one seems to have any experience with one, and he
will continue to work on it.
After reviewing comments and suggestions gathered from the meeting Superintendent Boland asked
Karla LaOrange, Director of Elementary Education, to share the information she had gathered regarding
the year-round multiple track schedules. Mrs. LaOrange agreed it could be done but stated the decision
would need to be made quickly in order to implement it for the 2011-12 school year.
The Board asked the Administration to prioritize the list of facility challenges, with a safety rating, for the
Facilities Committee to review before making any recommendations.
Jerry Wixom moved to adjourn. Ernest Jensen seconded. Meeting adjourned.
