SPECIALORDERSOFTHEDAY: a.EmissaryofExcellence KarlaLaOrange,DirectorofElementary,thankedeveryoneforhelpingtomakeOneDistrictOneBooka success.Karlasharedthat4,159familiesinthedistrictreceivedacopyofTrumpetoftheSwantoreadat homewiththeirchildren.Ifeveryonereadthe300minutesallottedatotalof1,247,000minuteswould havebeenreadduringthemonthofFebruaryinthedistrict.Karlawantedtorecognizetwopeoplein particularforgoingtheextramiletohelpmaketheeventsosuccessful.First,CamiSmith,Education FoundationDirector,forherhelpwiththereceptionandalsohelpingtosecureadditionalfundsto purchasethebookssoparentswouldnothaveto.ThesecondpersonisMargaretWimborne, CoordinatorofCommunicationsandCommunityEngagement,whowasinstrumentalinconnectingus withtheradiostationandnewspapertogettheinformationaboutliteracyouttothecommunity. MargaretwasalsoabletoreachouttothelocalRotaryClub,whoprovidedfundingforawonderful receptiontokickofftheevent. ChairmanLentthankedCamiandMargaretforallofthethingstheydoeverydayforthedistrictand presentedeachofthemwithacertificateandtokenofappreciation. 03/13/2012District91BoardMinutesPage 1 of 4 b.VolunteeroftheMonth KrisSmith,LongfellowElementaryPrincipal,introducedDr.RonLecheltastheVolunteeroftheMonth. Dr.Lechelt,aretiredphysician,hasvolunteeredatLongfellowforthepast7yearsandisagreatassetto theteachersandstudentsheworkswith.Mrs.HammondandMrs.Vos,twooftheteachersthatbenefit fromDr.[;-w;Œ·x­help,alsothankedhimandaddedthatitisfuntoseetherelationshipsandtrusthe buildswiththestudents.Dr.Lecheltsaiditisanhonortogettogotoschoolandhelpthechildren. ChairmanLentthankedDr.Lecheltforhisservicetothestudentsandthedistrictandpresentedhimwith acertificateandatokenofappreciation. SuperintendentBolandalsoreviewedtheStateDepartmentof97Ò-·zš“x­StudentsComeFirsttimelineand thedistributionprocessfortheonetoonetechnologypiece.TheRegion6PostLegislativeTourisscheduled th forTuesday,April10,whichmeanstheyanticipatetheLegislaturewilladjournintimetoputtheinformation togetherbeforethen. TheSuperintendentalsostatedthattheDistricthadreceivedanothercharterschoolpetitiononFebruary28, 3rdat7:00pm, 2012.KarlaLaOrangewillleadtheauditreview,startingwithapublichearingmeetingonApril andanticipateshavingarecommendationreadyfortheboardmeetingonMay8,2012.
