In the new house, Amy has a large yard. There are trees and flowers. There are lots of different animals. Just the other day, Amy saw a bird chasing a worm. She loved it! Amy has decided that she wants to work on her yard. She thinks it is beautiful. But she wants to make it even better. She goes to the store. There, she buys a book on gardens. She wants to plant bushes that will flower in the spring. She also wants beans and carrots. Amy reads the book. If she wants carrots by spring, she has to plant them now! She buys a rake, a hoe, dirt, and seeds. She rakes and waters the ground to get it ready. She knows it is good to rake the dirt. This makes it loose. It helps the plants grow. Next, Amy plants the seeds a few inches apart. She waters them every day. She waits patiently. While she is waiting, Amy plants rose bushes and beans. She cannot wait for it to get warm. Many days pass. Then, Amy walks out into her garden. She almost screams with joy! She sees the first bean. Amy calls her friends. They come over right away to visit. They are all very happy for her. They make her promise she will invite them over for bean salad. She tells them that is a great idea.
