Words About Weather Conditions cooling v. making colder The breeze began cooling our overheated guests. deserts n. large, dry, sandy areas Deserts do not grow many plants because they are so dry. drought n. a long period of little or no rain The drought was killing the farmer’s crops. evaporation n. when water changes from a liquid to a gas The evaporation of the water was caused by heat. overheated adj. too hot Drink plenty of water so you don’t get overheated when you exercise. shade n. an area where sunlight is blocked Sitting in shade is cooler than sitting in sunlight.
