AP 804.2 ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL ENDORSEMENT
Teachers may satisfy the leadership portion of the Advanced Professional Endorsement by
working a minimum of 16 hours in a position beyond the certified teaching contract that benefits
the District, either staff members or students. This position may be a volunteer or stipend-
compensated position, but must be agreed upon, and the scope of work documented, by the
supervisor prior to the start of the leadership work. Evidence of hours completed must be
submitted to the supervisor upon completion of work. If a leadership position is denied by the
immediate supervisor, the teacher may appeal to their respective Assistant Superintendent. The
following positions do not satisfy the requirement: hourly paid positions, coursework required for
advanced degrees (Master’s degree, Education Specialist degree, Doctorate degree, continuing
education classes etc.), Master Educator Premium, National Board Certification, game
management, and Saturday school supervisor, SAT Saturday proctor.

Positions that meet eligibility criteria for Advanced Professional Endorsement:
1. Instructional specialist or instructional coach
2. Curriculum or assessment committee member
3. Team or committee leadership position
4. Data coach
5. Other leadership positions identified by the school district.
Criteria to consider in determining if a leadership position qualifies for the Advanced
Professional Endorsement:
1. 16 hours of work – can be a combination of positions/activities participated in
between May 1 – May 1 of following year.
2. Any position that goes beyond the contract position – step above the contract
could include but would not be limited to: volunteer, club advisor, or leadership
stipend position (NMC stipend positions do not qualify).
3. Scope of work needs to benefit the district, staff, or students of District 91.
4. Provide evidence – calendar, agenda, pictures, videos, schedules, etc.
5. Principal-Supervisor/Teacher agreed upon activity prior to leadership work.
6. If questionable – Document and speak with evaluating principal.
7. If leadership position is denied, teacher may appeal to respective assistant
superintendent.
8. Hourly paid positions are excluded. Game management, Saturday School, SAT
Saturday proctor.
9. Master Educator Premium, National Board Certification, Master, Doctorate, (or
other degrees), and any continuing education classes are excluded.
Other information we need to share with staff:
Once a teacher meets the initial qualification for the APE, they will no longer need to meet the
leadership or IPLP portion to continue moving along the rung. Only the other qualifying criteria
will be used (minus leadership). There is one criterion for the initial and another for moving
along the rung.

This form or the district’s/charter’s own recommendation form may be used by the superintendent/charter administrator to verify
the completion of the requirements for Advanced Professional Endorsement.

completion of the requirements for the Advanced Professional Endorsement where the applicant is/was employed.

PROFESSIONAL ENDORSEMENT: Applicant has held a Professional Endorsement for five (5) years or more. YES
EXPERIENCE: Applicant has held a renewable certificate for at least eight (8) years or more, OR has completed a
state board of education approved interim certificate of three (3) years or longer and held a renewable certificate for
five (5) years or more.

PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION RUNG PERFORMANCE CRITERIA: Applicant has met the professional
compensation rung performance criteria for four (4) of the five (5) previous years OR the third, fourth, and fifth year.
The criteria is:
• An overall rating of proficient or higher, and no components rated as unsatisfactory on the state framework
for teaching evaluation; and
• Majority of their students have met their measurable student achievement targets or student success
indicator targets.

ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL COMPENSATION RUNG PERFORMANCE CRITERIA: Applicant has met
the advanced professional compensation rung performance criteria for three (3) of the five (5) previous years OR the
fourth and fifth year. The criteria is:
• An overall rating of proficient or higher, no components rated as unsatisfactory or basic, and rated as
distinguished overall in Domain II – Classroom Environment or Domain III – Instruction and Use of Assessment
on the state framework for teaching evaluation; and
• Demonstrating seventy-five percent (75%) or more of their students have met their measurable student
achievement targets or student success indicator targets.

DISTRICT LEADERSHIP ROLE: During three (3) of the previous five (5) years, has served in an additional building
or district leadership role in an Idaho public school. YES
ANNUAL INDIVIDUALIZED PROFESSIONAL LEARNING PLAN: Applicant has an individualized professional
learning plan developed with their district/charter supervisor. YES
The above-named applicant is being recommended for the Advanced Professional Endorsement.
