HomeMy WebLinkAboutNew Tech DirectorApril, 2018 TITLE: Director, Compass Academy (a New Tech Network school) QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Valid Idaho Principal’s Certificate or eligible to obtain it. Minimum of four years of full-time certificated experience working with students, Pre-K-12, while under contract in a school setting. Completion of an administrative internship or have one year of experience as an administrator in grades Pre-K-12. Have completed a state-approved program of at least 30 semester (forty-five quarter) credit hours of graduate study in school administration for the preparation of school principals at an accredited college or university. This program shall include competencies in the following areas: Leadership, ethics, and management of change All forms of communication, including technology, advocacy, and mediation Customer involvement and public relations Staff development and supervision of instruction School law and finance (including special education), and grant writing Curriculum development, integration of technology, delivery, and assessment Education of all populations, including special education Student behavior management/positive behavior supports/effective discipline. 6. Minimum of three years experience in public school administration. 7. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public. 8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Secondary Education JOB GOALS: To promote and support School District 91’s mission of graduating students with the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to be successful. To ensure the reflection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public, staff, parents, and students. In this position, the director shall have the authority to delegate certain administrative and supervisory functions that will ensure effective programs in the schools. To evaluate the readiness of a Compass Academy expansion to include 7th and 8th grade and scale a plan of implementation. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Continues the implementation of the New Technology High School model as measured by the NTHS Replication Fidelity Rubric. Provides leadership to the staff in determining objectives and identifying school needs as the basis for developing long and short range goals for Compass Academy. Implements school-wide student-centered, project and problem-based learning tied to State and District standards. Provides instructional leadership to all staff and assures integration and cooperation between curricular areas and between other programs on site. Commits to developing a culture of trust, respect and responsibility among students, teachers, staff, and the Compass Academy community. Participates with significant higher education and business partnerships to support college courses, internships and community service experiences for students. Works collaboratively to promote deeper learning with other school district administrators. Implements a technology infrastructure that supports the curriculum, the culture, the New Technology Network. Advances educational reform by contributing to New Tech Network activities and the Project Library. Commits to the school-wide implementation of the New Tech Network Learning System TM tools and curriculum. Supervises and evaluates the performance of all assigned personnel in accordance with the District’s adopted uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment, recommends appropriate action in cases of substandard performances, and identifies and encourages individual teachers with leadership potential. Develops school plans and organizational procedures for the health, safety, discipline and conduct of students as established in District procedures. Identifies, provides, assigns, and coordinates professional growth opportunities for teaching personnel within the school. Carries out a program of community relations as a means of disseminating and garnering community, parent, and other community organizations support. Ensures that the school meets or exceeds requirements for state and Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation. Prepares and manages the school budget in accordance with guidelines provided by the District Office. Manages Associated Student Body funds in accordance with guidelines provided by the District Office. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, etc. required for the effective administration of the school. Assumes responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the school plant and facilities. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a full-time position scheduled for 226 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Administrators’ Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Secondary Education in accordance with board policy.
