Intense belief in and support of public education. Ability to coordinate publication projects from development to production to circulation. Extensive experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Proficiency in the use of peripheral devices: digital camera (still/video), scanner, projector. Extensive experience with one or more desktop publishing software packages. Proficiency in the use of photo editing software such as Photoshop. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Bachelor’s degree desirable but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools. JOB GOALS: To support School District 91’s mission through internal and external communications. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Attends District Administrative Team meetings, principal meetings, and Board meetings. Publishes the District Improvement Plan. Makes presentations of various components of the District Improvement Plan to different stakeholder groups throughout the year. Develops and maintains a strategic communications plan. Evaluates available communications vehicles (e-mail, web: Internal/External, webinar, podcasting, printed materials, press releases, radio, television, newspaper, billboards, etc.) to determine their effectiveness for targeted stakeholder groups. Regularly reviews school calendars and newsletters for upcoming events to publicize and feature. Coordinates staff communications from various departments: Curriculum/Assessment/Instruction, Human Resources, Federal Programs, Student Services, Professional Technical Education, and Technology. Provides regular District bulletins containing staff communications. Manages the content of the District website. Develops school website content guidelines. Provides input on website design and organization. Provides assistance with District presentations as requested. Publishes the annual patron Report Card. Publishes the District Calendar of Events. Interacts with the media. Manages the monthly recognition of the District Emissary of Excellence, and Volunteer of the Month. Coordinates and supports District webinars. Serves as a member of the Safety Committee and Crisis Team. Creates support materials for bonds, levies, and special projects. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical conduct and confidentiality. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for eight hours per day for 241 days per year with a somewhat flexible schedule. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 16. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools in accordance with Board policy.
