HomeMy WebLinkAboutDriver Ed TeacherApril 2011 TITLE: Driver Education Teacher QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate with an endorsement for Driver’s Education. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Driver Education Coordinator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To provide opportunities for interested students to acquire the knowledge, attitudes, habits, and skills necessary for the safe operation of motor vehicles. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaches students the manipulative skills, defensive techniques, and perceptive skills necessary for modern-day driving through traditional instruction and on-the-road behind-the-wheel training. Strives to instill in students attitudes and behavior conducive to safe, proper operation of a motor vehicle. Instructs student in how to cope with typical emergencies associated with the operation of a motor vehicle. Assists students in preparing applications for Department of Motor Vehicles’ student driver permits. Receives class fees from students and delivers the funds to the District Office to be deposited. Services driver-training car (gasoline, oil, washing) and arranges for other maintenance service as needed. Prepares and maintains all necessary records and reports. Explains and interprets the school’s driver education program to school personnel, car dealers, and the community at large. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a teacher, the Idaho Code of Ethics, and the negotiated contract. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and student enrollment. Salary will be an hourly rate as determined by the District Pay Grade Committee. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Driver Education Coordinator in accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement and board policy.
