TITLE: Lead District Behavior Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Idaho Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with a School Social Worker or School Counselor endorsement.
Master’s Degree with at least three years experience as a School Social Worker or School Counselor.
Valid Idaho driver’s license.
Must have own transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed by the district.
Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student.
To support and develop services which reflect “best practices” for children and adolescents with behavior issues and/or disabilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with Consulting Teachers and the Director of Student Services to interpret federal and state rules and regulations and to define district level implementation procedures.
Develops and provides training to teachers, parents and paraprofessionals on issues pertaining to students with disabilities and behavior issues.
Collaborates with community agencies to support the efforts for good mental health and academic achievement for students.
Assists with planning and organization of the Extended School Year program.
Attends district, agency, and staff development meetings that are relevant to job assignment.
Attends special education, consulting teacher and ancillary staff department meetings as requested.
Serves on various district wide committees as requested.
Works in collaboration with school psychologists, counselors, school companions, principals, teachers, nurses, parents, and paraprofessionals, to increase appropriate student success
and behaviors in the classroom, such as:
assisting with Functional Behavior Assessment and writing behavior plans.
assisting in development of student activity matrix.
Supports and assists teachers and administrators in transition issues at appropriate times, i.e., preschool to kindergarten, elementary to middle school, middle school to senior high,
and senior high to adult life.
Attends Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings as requested.
Maintains and submits data for Medicaid billing as requested.
Provides training and oversight for the district Behavior Analysis Unit.
Seeks out opportunities for professional growth.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the Idaho Code of Ethics.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will
be in accordance with the placement on the Classified Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education with a range of Grade 14 to 16.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Services in accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement and board policy.
