I. TITLE: Assistant Child Nutrition Supervisor/Financial Specialist
II. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational experience with academic major in one of the following: food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences,
nutrition education, culinary arts, business or a related field.
Knowledge and experience in areas such as institutional food service operations, management, business, and/or nutrition education preferred.
Ability to effectively market the child nutrition program to students, staff, and community.
Strong background in budget management with the ability to manage the financial aspects of the child nutrition program under the direction of the Child Nutrition Supervisor.
Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and data bases.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Possess a current Serve Safe Certification.
Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
Physically able to perform assigned duties.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
III. REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Supervisor.
IV. JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To provide each student with food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal caring.
V. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and administer the child nutrition's budget, and help establish financial goals and objectives for the child nutrition program
Maintain accounting procedures in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, reviews and Board policy
Coordinate the audit of child nutrition accounts with the Board's auditor
Oversee the purchasing of all foods, supplies, and equipment and maintain the inventory of each.
Be responsible for the ordering, storage and distribution of government commodities
Check all bills and purchase orders for accuracy before presenting them to the Business Department for payment
Process records and reports required under federal and state law, administrative rules,
and Board policy or assigned by the superintendent
Oversees and assists with verification of Free and Reduced applications and review applications for accuracy
Assist in the development of policy relevant to the food services program
Assist in the implementation of efficient management techniques to ensure all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and
policies.
Develop and maintain effective communication with parents, students and the community
Ensure CNP compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
Provide technical assistance and training for school foodservice personnel, school administrators, and other school support staff.
Develop a marketing plan to attract students, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and community.
Conduct an on-going evaluation of the marketing plan.
Communicate program information to encourage and secure support for the school food and nutrition program from the Board of Trustees, administrators, faculty, students, parents, and
community.
Assist with the hiring and evaluation of child nutrition staff as requested.
Coordinate all catering and subsequent billing.
Check all government reimbursements and commercial rebates for timeliness and accuracy.
Collect, compile and utilize appropriate operational data to maximize efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness of child nutrition program.
Keep abreast of new products, new nutritional and school food service related information
Maintain extra-professional affiliations as is pertinent.
Completes required continuing education/annual training standards each year.
Attends conferences and classes when available and practical.
Assists with all aspects of the child nutrition program as requested.
Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
VI. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Process and take daily deposit to bank as needed.
B. Perform all other duties as assigned.
VI. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is scheduled for eight hours per day, 244 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified
Salary Schedule as a Grade 12 to 14.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Coordinator of Business Functions in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified
personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of medium duty.
