Computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred but not required. Able to organize and prioritize required tasks. Physically capable of performing assigned duties. Ability to work in freezer for long periods of time Current forklift certification or the ability to become certified. Able to work with staff, students and the public. Strong math, reading and communication skills both written and verbal. Capable of lifting up to 60 pounds. Valid Idaho Driver’s License and the ability to drive a 2 ton delivery truck and back up using the mirrors. Current Food Handlers Card and HACCP certification or the ability to obtain both. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Supervisor JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To safeguard the district’s investment in materials through efficient and effective warehousing practices and to help transport food and supplies in an efficient, timely and safe manner to enable the cafeterias to operate efficiently. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with the receipt of deliveries and checks in products. Assists in checking quantity, price and condition of products. Compares items delivered to items ordered. Notifies Inventory Control Clerk of problems and deficiencies. Delivers food and supplies to kitchens and cafeterias. Keeps the warehouse organized, clean and in compliance with Health Department and commodity regulations. Notifies the Inventory Control Clerk regarding the maintenance needs of the delivery trucks and checks to see that the maintenance is completed. Substitutes for route drivers as needed. Picks up food and supplies from the kitchens and transports to the satellite schools in a safe and timely manner. Returns to satellite schools and picks up the soiled dishes and leftover food to return to the kitchens. Picks up the daily deposit from the school cashiers and transports it to the Child Nutrition Administrative Assistant. Maintains a clean driving record. Delivers product to the schools as needed. Operates a forklift as needed. Is responsible for lot clean up, snow removal, keeping trucks clean Completes required paperwork in a timely manner as requested. Completes food handler and safety training as required. Fills in as a cafeteria worker in the kitchens as requested. Prepares and serves food. Packs food to be sent to satellite schools. Cleans the kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas as assigned. Performs dishwashing duties as assigned. Stores and disposes of unused foods. Knows and follows health and sanitation procedures. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 6.5 hours per day during the school year. Situations may arise that will require work beyond the normal work hours. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 6. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Child Nutrition Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of heavy duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers. The majority of the time is spent working in the Child Nutrition Warehouse. This job requires standing, lifting, walking, and sitting at a desk. This job includes exposure to cold for extended periods while working in the walk-in freezer or checking in deliveries. Driving and backing large delivery trucks is required. This position requires making deliveries to schools during times that students are near the delivery area.
