TITLE: Attendance Clerk – High School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
Suitable experience and competency in major math functions.
Strong computer skills.
Working knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of office equipment and machines.
Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To maintain complete and accurate attendance records for each student so as to assist administrators in minimizing the interruptions and dislocations caused by faulty attendance in
the education of each student.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Records student absences each day.
Collects all of the teachers’ attendance information, whether online or on attendance sheets.
Enters the notes and e-mails received on a daily basis.
Issues proper admittance slips for student absences as per attendance policy.
Receives parents’ phone calls for all attendance issues.
Issues admit slips when receiving excuse notes from parents.
Issues truancies to students who fail to verify their absences by note or phone call.
Refers students with questionable absences or truancies to an administrator.
Files all admittance slips and parents’ notes in the student’s file.
Makes arrangements for all makeup sessions and enters the data and results of each student’s makeup hours.
Maintains a professional awareness of regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge of state law, Board policy and administrative regulations.
Prepares and sends correspondence for the credit review committee, students with attendance problems, etc.
Processes daily homework requests.
Prepares emergency binders for administrators.
Sends for students for administrators and school resource officers.
Orders supplies for the attendance office.
Makes referrals to Court and Clinical, completes the required paperwork, and then delivers to Court and Clinical.
Checks students in and out.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Disburses medication in the nurse’s absence.
Enters and updates personal student data in the computer; such as addresses, phone numbers, etc. as requested.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 187 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary
Schedule as a Grade 5.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100%
Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound
Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds
Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds
**Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
