TITLE: Secretary – Elementary School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
Proficiency in secretarial skills of typing, filing, office procedures, operation of office equipment and machines, and computer functions.
Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
Two years experience in clerical or secretarial work requiring frequent contact with the public.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards
Achievement Test.
To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the elementary school office so that the office’s maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Welcomes visitors to the school graciously.
Places and receives telephone calls cordially and accurately records messages.
Orders and maintains supplies, as needed, under the direction of the Building Principal.
Maintains student records.
Performs bookkeeping tasks.
Processes incoming and outgoing correspondence as instructed.
Coordinates appointments and arranges for conferences and interviews.
Prepares state attendance reports.
Maintains a regular filing system.
Tracks staff attendance, including substitute teacher records.
Assists in providing first aid and helps notify parents in case of illness.
Administers medication to students according to physician’s orders. Maintains medication log.
Sorts and distributes all incoming mail.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is scheduled for 7 or 8 hours per day, 210 days per year. The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the school and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in
accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 6.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
