TITLE: Trades Helper I or II
QUALIFICATIONS:
Mechanical aptitude.
High School Diploma preferred.
General knowledge of all power tools.
Experience in and a general knowledge in carpentry and plumbing.
General experience with mechanical systems such as pumps, motors, fans, HVAC and electrical systems.
General knowledge and/or experience of building automation systems and controls preferred
General working knowledge of boilers and heat pumps preferred
Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software products preferred
Experience working within a preventative maintenance program setting.
Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
Physically capable of performing assigned tasks.
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
V. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs minor building and plumbing repairs.
Assists in routine preventative maintenance.
Assists other craftsmen on jobs as needed.
Completes work order forms and informs the Maintenance Lead of any part or supplies that might be needed.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 254 days per year. Monday through Friday is considered to be the normal workweek. Emergency conditions may arise which will require
attention at any hour of the day or night. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule with a range
from Grade 8 to Grade 9 depending on qualifications and experience.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Maintenance Lead in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of heavy duty.
1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100%
Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds
**Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
