TITLE: At-Risk Tracker & Credit Recover Lab Paraprofessional
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma
Can work cooperatively in a team approach with students, parents, counselors, administrators and teachers bout the needs of assigned at-risk students
Has the ability to work independently.
Possesses strong interpersonal skills and has the ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
Is professional in both on-the-job behavior, oral and written communication.
Is committed to the idea of helping at-risk students in their academics and attendance.
Possesses technology skills, and organizational skills to track individual student progress, organize information from various sources and to help troubleshoot technology issues as students
are in computer labs accessing online credit recover courses.
Is comfortable and skilled in the role of holding students accountable but in a positive manner that maintains the student’s confidentiality.
Physically able to perform assigned duties.
Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student.
To work with the principal and staff to support the at-risk students in their efforts to graduate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regularly communicates with students, parents, administrators, counselors, clerks and teachers to facilitate interventions and accountability for student success.
Maintains a written record of communication with student, parents, teachers and others using the District student tracking software.
Attends weekly intervention team meetings and is prepared to update team members on individual student progress.
Acts as an advocate for assigned students as to their needs and issues.
Supervises, motivates and helps organize students in the Credit Recovery Lab.
Learns district and building policies while striving to improve job skills through various professional development opportunities.
Assists individual students in need of special attention.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the school and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 3.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100%
Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound
Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds
Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds
**Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
