TITLE: In-School Suspension Aide.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
Evidence of emotional maturity and stability necessary for the specialized work involved.
Good communication skills.
Ability to maintain records on the computer.
Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Administrator.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement
Test.
To assist, support and work closely with teachers and administrators in providing a positive educational experience and a secure alternative-learning center for students suspended for
disciplinary reasons.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors assigned students’ attendance, behavior, and assigned work.
Informs parents and appropriate school personnel of students’ progress.
Works with individual students to reinforce learning of social skills, responsible behavior, and other skills necessary for success in school.
Assists students in the organization and completion of academic work when appropriate.
Gathers and relays information to the Building Principal, teachers and parents when requested.
Maintains a working file on each of the assigned students and logs all student contacts.
Is familiar with the assigned schools’ attendance and discipline policy.
Participates in assigned inservice training programs.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
Attends scheduled meetings pertaining to assigned students.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the school and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 3.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100%
Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound
Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds
Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds
**Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
