HomeMy WebLinkAboutWork-based Learning CoordMay 2008 TITLE: Work-based Learning Coordinator. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Certified as a Limited Occupational Specialist or willing to obtain certificate. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed. Strong planning and organizational skills. Ability to work with parents, staff, students, and the public. Completed Dependable Strength training or be willing to receive the training. Ability to arrange for and coordinate work-based learning experiences for students with area businesses. Able to use Idaho Career Information System (CIS) or be wiling to learn. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) or a willingness to learn. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Professional-Technical Education Coordinator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To provide Professional-Technical high school students with work-based learning experiences that will lead them to make wise and satisfying occupational and career choices. To help educate the public regarding programs available to students through the Eastern Idaho Professional-Technical High School. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops community and business partnerships for work-based learning experiences for high school students. Acts as a liaison between students' home high school and the Eastern Idaho Professional-Technical High School. Works with professional-technical education teachers to set up job sites that help integrate appropriate academics and professional-technical competencies into work experiences for students. Develops workplace learning contract agreements between students, parents, teachers, and businesses. Assists professional-technical high school teachers with work-based learning experiences. Provides students with workshops designed to teach them employability skills. Attends all advisory committee meetings that apply to the necessary work-based learning programs. Attends all member high schools' back-to-school and parent/teacher nights to set up booths and help educate parents about the Eastern Idaho Professional-Technical High School. Assists with meetings for the Eastern Idaho Professional-Technical High School. Coordinates the Region VI Annual Spring Career Fair. Develops and maintains a database of businesses and the services they are willing to provide for students. Attends Professional-Technical Education Summer Conference. Coordinates meetings for work-based learning mentors. Assists with State reports for School-to-Work and the Eastern Idaho Professional-Technical High School. Completes all other paperwork and reports as requested. Strives to improve and maintain job skills through inservice training and other means. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 7.5 hours per day, 210 days per year. Continuation of this position is dependent upon continued funding from sources outside of the District. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 9. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of the position will be evaluated annually by the Professional-Technical Education Coordinator in accordance with the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
