TITLE: Software Support Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
College degree is desirable, but not mandatory.
Experience in most or all of these areas:
School administrative accounting, including but not limited to student management systems, library systems, payroll, and fiscal accounting.
Teaching / training, particularly of software products.
Writing training materials and documentation.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Workstation operating systems (i.e. Apple Macintosh, MS-DOS, & Windows) and basic application software (i.e. Word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, internet browsers, presentation
software).
Windows NT operating system and server administration.
Uses of technology in education.
Digital Equipment’s Open VMS and Pathworks software.
Ability to work with teaching and support staff and the public.
Knowledge of curriculum structures and student records management issues.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Administrative Technology Services.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards
Achievement Test.
To assist in supporting administrative uses of the computer both in district and out-of-district by performing administrative software functions, providing training to users, creating
training materials, and supporting user applications, with an emphasis on the Student Records Management systems and to troubleshoot related hardware problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports new and existing users of administrative software, with a beginning focus on student management software, but to later include fiscal, payroll, library, etc.
Provides inservice training to new and existing users on new administrative software features or applications.
Helps create training materials and/or documentation of new and existing administrative software applications.
Supports new and existing users of basic computer applications (word processing, email, spreadsheets, etc.)
Conducts inservice for administrative users of basic computer applications as needed.
Performs administrative software procedures and data entry.
Performs other administrative software support duties as assigned.
Helps install and troubleshoot software of above systems on workstations.
Performs necessary housekeeping tasks such as creating accounts, granting privileges, doing backups, etc. as needed.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the District and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Work schedule will follow the
250-day calendar, and wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 9.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Coordinator of Administrative Technology Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of
classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100%
Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound
Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds
Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds
**Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
