TITLE: Technology Services Help Desk Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
College degree is desirable, but not mandatory.
Experience in most or all of these areas:
School administrative accounting, including but not limited to student management systems, library systems, payroll, and fiscal accounting.
Teaching / training, particularly of software products.
Writing training materials and documentation.
Troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Workstation operating systems (i.e. Apple Macintosh and Windows) and basic application software such as Word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, internet browsers, presentation
software.
Current Windows server operating system and server administration.
Troubleshooting and repairing of hardware problems for workstations, printers and other workstation peripherals.
Uses of technology in education, including familiarity with school software.
Ability to work with all district staff and the public.
Knowledge of curriculum structures and student records management issues.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Administrative Technology Services.
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards
Achievement Test.
To man the Technology Center’s help desk in supporting administrative uses of technology both in district and out-of-district by performing administrative software functions, providing
training to users, creating training materials, supporting end-user applications, and troubleshooting related software and hardware problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports new and existing users of administrative software, such as student and curriculum management software applications.
Helps install and troubleshoot software applications on workstations including operating systems.
Helps troubleshoot and resolve hardware problems for workstations, printers, and other workstation peripherals.
Performs administrative software procedures and data entry.
Performs necessary housekeeping tasks such as creating and maintaining accounts, granting privileges, doing backups, printing payroll and accounts payable checks, etc. as needed.
Supports users of basic computer applications (word processing, email, spreadsheets, etc.)
Provides backup support for building technology needs. (See Tech Team job description.)
Provides in-service training to new and existing users on new and existing administrative software features or applications.
Helps create training materials and/or documentation for users of administrative and instructional software applications.
Conducts in-service for administrative users of basic computer applications as needed.
Performs other administrative software support duties as assigned.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the District and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Work schedule will follow the
250-day calendar. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 13.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Coordinator of Administrative Technology Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of
classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100%
Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound
Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds
Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds
**Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
