Valid Idaho Class “B” commercial driver’s license with school bus, air brake, and passenger endorsement. Computer skills and experience preferred. Community qualified in CPR and first aid. Ability to complete required paperwork. Physically capable of performing assigned duties. Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Clean driving record, no traffic tickets or chargeable accidents for the last three years. No convictions for DUI involving alcohol or drugs. Ability to obtain State CDL Tester License. Previous managerial experience. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Transportation Director. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To enable each student, through safe and efficient transportation, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the District. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Trains bus drivers in safe driving techniques. Coordinates special needs program. Coordinates student discipline and citations. Monitors bus routes and driver’s time. Trains drivers in pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Federal and State Transportation Regulations. Coordinates training sessions for bus drivers to review the District’s discipline policies and procedures. Reviews loading zones, stops, and bus routes. Makes recommendations to the Transportation Director. Assists Transportation Director with annual performance evaluations of school bus drivers. Serves as State Licensed CDL Tester. Serves as the Assistant Transportation Supervisor. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists mechanics as assigned. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 219 days per year. Monday through Friday is considered the normal workweek. Emergency conditions may arise that will require attention at any hour of the day or night. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Transportation Salary Schedule as a Grade 12-13. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. This “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
