TITLE: Transportation Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful experience in middle management.
Strong skills in problem solving and in supervising personnel.
Ability and knowledge to design and implement bus routes.
Computer skills and experience preferred.
Above average mechanical ability.
Physically capable of performing assigned duties.
Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus Endorsement
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To enable each student, through safe and efficient transportation, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the District’s
schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops a complete plan of pupil transportation in the school district and provides time schedules and bus routes.
Directly supervises and evaluates bus drivers, mechanics and other transportation department personnel.
Implements and maintains a transportation driver training program sanctioned by the State of Idaho Transportation Department.
Conforms to all State laws and regulations regarding school transportation.
Maintains safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and develops a program of preventive safety.
Is familiar with State laws directly connected with pupil transportation. Inspects buses.
Administers extracurricular use of buses.
Advises Superintendent on road hazards for decision on school closing during inclement weather.
Prepares bid specifications for buses and other equipment.
Advises the Director of Elementary Education on placement options for overflow students.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 260 days per year. Monday through Friday is considered the normal workweek. Emergency conditions may arise that will require attention
at any hour of the day or night. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Transportation Salary Schedule as a Grade 15.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Operations in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.

This position is performed both indoors and outdoors. Driving, is required, both in inclement weather to check on road conditions, and at other times to supervise staff. Time is also
spent sitting at a desk, working on the computer, completing paperwork, and answering the telephone. Movement within the office is required to deliver documents and messages and gather
information as needed. Occasional travel to the District schools is required.
