High school diploma and 32 college credits or ETS Para Assessment test with a passing score of 460 or higher. Possess an understanding of the special needs of English Learners. Ability to maintain positive communications and work cooperatively with parents, students, school personnel, and program staff. Bilingual in English and Spanish both verbal and written. Knowledge of community resources for families. Knowledge of district curriculum and instructional resources. Ability to analyze language proficiency assessment data and understand the implications for instruction. Good organizational ability. Computer knowledge and experience with word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc. Valid Idaho driver’s license with a clean driving record. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Student Achievement and School Improvement. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To increase the district’s effectiveness in meeting the educational needs of Migrant and LEP students by performing a variety of home and school liaison activities, data entry, record keeping tasks, testing of students, translations, interpreting, enrollment of Migrant and LEP students, and completion of Certificates of Eligibility for the State Department of Education. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works to become thoroughly knowledgeable about Federal Programs compliance requirements and resources for English Learners. Assists school staff in understanding and meeting the needs of English Learners. Assists parents of students in completing and returning school registration forms, signing up for email and text notifications, and understanding the overall school system. Serves as a liaison when requested between English Learner families and the schools, continually striving to maintain positive communications and facilitate two-way communication. Analyzes student language proficiency data. Assists teachers in understanding student language proficiency levels and the implications for instructions. Helps teachers develop Educational Learning Plans for English Learners. Plans and delivers professional development specific to the effective education of English Learners. Completes reports and other paperwork as assigned. Attends in-service classes and other district or building meetings when requested. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as required. Translates District/Federal Programs documents as requested. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the students and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 6-8. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Achievement and School Improvement in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
