TITLE: Paraprofessional Support for D91 Online Academy
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma.
Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
Patient, yet firm.
Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills and LMS’s
Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To work closely with special education students on a regular basis to provide them with the support they need to gain full benefits from the District’s special education program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Helps the teacher provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning virtual classroom support in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource
materials.
Works with small groups of students in an online format to reinforce materials initially introduced by the teacher.
Assists individual children in need of special attention. This may require setting up a virtual meeting to help assist a student.
Performs clerical duties relating to their assignment.
Guides independent assignments established by the teacher.
Assists case managers with progress monitoring of IEP goals.
Checks students online work, time logged on, class assignments, and grades
Constructs supplementary materials for use in the classroom under the teacher’s supervision.
Strives to improve and maintain job skills through inservice training programs and other means.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
Adheres to the district Telework policy “Administrative Process for Employee Telework During Health Emergency”
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the school and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 3.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
