High school diploma and 32 college credits or ETS Para Assessment test with a passing score of 460 or higher. Possess an understanding of the special needs of the migrant and LEP (Limited English Proficiency) populations. Ability to maintain positive communications and work cooperatively with parents, students, school personnel, and program staff. Bilingual in English and Spanish both verbal and written. Knowledge of community resources for families. Training and experience in clerical duties. Good organizational ability. Computer knowledge and experience with word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc. Valid Idaho Driver’s License with a clean driving record. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Student Achievement and School Improvement. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Progress monitor/mentor migrant students in key areas including: attendance, behavior, academic progress, college/career opportunities. Keep student files accurate and complete including contact logs, copies of progress monitoring forms, emails and other documents. Determine schedule of student meetings – in-person or virtual - based on level of need, but not less than twice per month. Some circumstances may require checking on a student more frequently. Establish a positive and collaborative working relationship with teachers, administrators, counselors and parents. Provide parents and students with information on school systems (i.e. credits, graduation requirements, online programs, etc.). Work with family liaison to involve parents in a partnership with the school, including home visits, especially for at-risk Migrant students. Teach problem-solving skills to students to help them work through issues in a positive way. Provide migrant students in 11th and 12th grade with information on scholarships, post high school choices and connect students to counselors and colleges/technical schools. Refer migrant students to appropriate academic programs (e.g. AVID, LIA, HEP, CAMP, etc). Communicate regularly with migrant director. Attend collaboration meetings with migrant staff. Advocate for migrant students. Other duties as assigned. Completes reports and other paperwork as assigned. Attends in-service classes and other district or building meetings when requested. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as required. Translates District/Federal Programs documents as requested. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the students and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Achievement and School Improvement in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
