HomeMy WebLinkAboutDirector of TechnologyJune 2009 TITLE: Director of Technology QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in information technology related and/or education field(s) from an accredited university required with a valid Idaho teaching or administrators certificate preferred, or equivalent experience. Industry standard certification in IT related fields preferred (MSCE, etc.). Understanding of school finance. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Strong organizational and management skills and experience in the same. Educational technology planning skills and experience. Trained and/or experienced in the following areas: Management of Windows servers, i.e. Windows 2003 Server OS or later. All Apple Macintosh and Windows desktop operating systems. Network administration and protocols; particularly TCP/IP protocols. Internet administration using proxy server, firewalls, and filters. Storage area networks (SAN). Windows and Apple Macintosh application software such as Microsoft Office, etc. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Superintendent. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To manage the District Technology Center. To manage administrative and instructional technology planning and implementation throughout the district. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises and manages Technology Services staff. Supervises district administrative and instructional technology planning and its implementation. Supervises the evaluation and procurement of technology hardware and software. Supervises the support of all technology hardware and software. Supervises various administrative and instructional software development projects. Helps coordinate technology implementation with district administrators. Is familiar will all system operations of technology services in order to provide backup to other Technology Center staff. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the District and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Miscellaneous Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Curriculum in accordance with board policy. This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Light 20 pounds 10 pounds < 1 pound Medium 40 pounds 20 pounds 10 pounds Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
