The ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, counselors, administrators, and teachers regarding the needs of at-risk students.
The ability to work independently.Possesses strong interpersonal skills and has the ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
Is professional in both on-the-job behavior, oral and written communication.
Is committed to helping at-risk students with academics, behavior, attendance, and decision making.
Strong technology and organizational skills.
Is comfortable and skilled in the role of holding students accountable but in a positive manner that maintains the student’s confidentiality.
Knowledge of student progression, attendance interventions, and available resources. Physically able to perform assigned duties.Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.Such
alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO: Building AdministratorJOB GOALS:To support the delivery of School District 91’s
written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student.To coordinate activities and services to complement existing student systems; provide strong student
support services; work closely to align students, families, counselors, teacher, and school efforts to increase the attendance and graduation rates.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize research-based risk factors to identify students at risk of dropping out of school.
Gather and analyze on-going student attendance data and grades.
Encourage parent participation in school-based conference, events, and activities.
Conduct home visits as needed or directed.
Provide mentoring, on-going emotional support, and personal contact with at-risk students.
Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and administrators to develop systemic strategies to identify and support students who are frequently absent.
Establish and maintain a positive collaborative relationship with the students’ families to increase student achievement.
Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
Regularly communicates with students, parents, administrators, counselors, and teachers to facilitate interventions and accountability for student success.
Maintains a written record of communication with student, parents, teachers and others using the District student tracking software.
Attends intervention team meetings and is prepared to update team members on individual student progress.
Learns district and building policies while striving to improve job skills through various professional development opportunities.Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.Has
regular and predictable attendance.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - required with or without a reasonable accommodation:Effective communication capabilities to discern verbal conversation.Comprehend
the meaning of words and respond effectively.Visual acuity to comprehend written work, prepare, review, and organize documents and observe classroom and student activities.Manual dexterity
to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment.Personal mobility, flexibility, and balance which permits the employee to work in a school
environment, lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 20 lbs. occasionally.Job tasks require occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.OTHER
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs all other duties as assigned.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:This is a full-time position scheduled for 8 hours a day, 208 days per year. Benefits will be in
accordance with approved Board policy.Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 11-12 depending on experience.This is a 2 year positionThis is an “at
will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy
cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.EVALUATION:Performance
of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.This position
has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.1 – 33%34 – 66%67-100%
