HomeMy WebLinkAboutGrounds Mechanic 2022January 2022 TITLE: Grounds Mechanic QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Idaho Driver’s License. High School Diploma preferred. Proficiency in small and large engine repairs; in include small engine overhauls as well as minor repairs on larger diesel engines. Physically capable of performing assigned tasks. Ability to read and write and to understand operating instructions. Welding skills. Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to work with staff, students and the public. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Grounds Foreman JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To properly maintain grounds equipment and to assist in the maintenance of the district’s grounds in a condition of safety, neatness and aesthetic attractiveness. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans and implements a programmed maintenance schedule for all ground equipment. Maintains and repairs all grounds equipment and tools. Plows snow and sands parking lots. Maintains an accurate inventory of parts, equipment, tools and perishable supplies. Mow, trim and care for landscape of each facility (fertilize/aerate). Trims trees and shrubs each fall/spring. Repairs fences and playground equipment as needed. Helps maintain snow removal equipment at each school, and helps maintain and service summer grounds equipment as needed. Helps with irrigation and with sprinkler system repairs as needed. Completes required paperwork. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Always reachable by district or personal cell phone. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 254 days per year. Monday through Friday is considered the normal workweek. The workweek may vary depending on weather conditions. Extended hours may be required during snow removal season. Emergency conditions may arise that will require attention at any hour of the day or night. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 9. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Grounds Foreman in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. This position has been given an overall physical classification of heavy duty. 1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100% Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds **Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
