TITLE: IT Security Systems Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have 5+ years of physical security project delivery experience.
Well versed in security technology and security design practices - both Access Control and VMS (Genetec).
Knowledge of Life safety systems design principles.
Applied knowledge of Instrument and Control (I and C) and Life Safety Systems or Building Monitoring System (BMS) design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production
of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
Ability to work effectively as an individual with minimal direction, and as part of a larger team
Must have excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrate application of structured problem-solving methods and tools.
Ability to effectively present ideas and recommendations to upper management.
Ability to work on diverse tasks under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong self-learning capability
Maintain a positive attitude towards change

Experience with project planning, coordination, and integration

Ideally a Bachelor s degree in a technical field of study or 5 years related combination of experience and education in lieu of degree.
5+ years’ experience within Physical Security System Integration - Access controls and Video Management Systems (Lenel, Software House, Genetec, AMAG, Bosch, Avigilon, S2 etc.).
PMP Certification recommended.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: IT Facilities Manager
JOB GOALS:
To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
To handle the computer systems, applicable hardware, and proper evaluation of security issues for new life safety system hardware or software. The specialist will identify, investigate,
and respond to LSS security alerts and information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
System administrative oversight for district’s Access Control System, Life Safety Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, and Video Surveillance Systems, including system monitoring, programming,
reporting, and troubleshooting.
Interface with district staff to answer inquiries, provide status reports, and resolve issues.
Support maintenance of existing systems, installation of new systems, and proactive initiatives.
Under the guidance and authorization of the district’s systems administrator performs device programming, configuration changes and regular applicable updates to the district’s security
software systems.
Providing initial diagnostic troubleshooting and determining root cause of simple network and systems problems.
Under the guidance and authorization of the district’s systems administrator performs maintains the server environment on which the security systems are installed.
Develops and maintains LSS and security systems documentation. Including but not limited to usage and configuration information.
Responsible for overseeing security project delivery / multiple projects concurrently
Track schedule and performance.
Schedule and manage coordination meetings as often as needed with the key stakeholders to make sure projects are delivered on time.
Review the security design and make sure it meets required standards.
Life Safety Systems operations and maintenance.
In conjunction with the district’s systems administrator manages system capacity, reliability, and uptime as well as all documentation required to safely operate our LSS system.
Sustaining and construction support for all District’s life safety systems software and hardware
Verify hardware installs meet or exceed local, state, and federal construction guidelines on all projects that fall within the scope of responsibility
Role model safety practices at all times.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week 254 days per year. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 11-13 depending on experience.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment
at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the IT Facilities Manager in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
This position has been given an overall physical classification of heavy duty.
1 – 33% 34 – 66% 67-100%
Heavy >50 pounds** 40 pounds 20 pounds
**Lifts over 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and 2 or more workers.
