Using project -based instruction and real
world opportunities for community service,
we will create a learning environment that
enables each student to become a
competent, compassionate, responsible,
and interdependent citizen leader well
prepared for college and for the world of
work.
Students use core concepts to apply to
" real life" situations.
Students use collaboration, communication
and critical thinking.
Creates relevance since concepts are
applied to hands-on projects.
Research shows that students using
project -based learning retain the
information longer and develop greater
confidence and problem -solving skills.
Students learn to communicate effectively
as they present their projects to others.
Students gain ownership over their own
learning and contribution

Will use some of the projects to help improve
the community.
• Both project -based
• Both will work on the three Cs: collaboration,
communication, and critical thinking.
• Both are offering a choice to the students in
the area according to their interests.
• Both will use high levels of technology in the
classrooms.
Both will use a lottery to attend if the number
of interested students are greater than the
enrollment cap.
Both will use district resources (ELL, help with
At Risk students, food services,
transportation, etc.) if Odyssey and the district
agree to do so.
dyssey
Grades 7-12
Arts and Technology
Facility costs nothing to
the district.
New Tech
Grades 9-12
STEM.
New Tech remodel paid
for by district.
Odyssey will have its own board providing
much of the oversight of the school.
It will provide another choice for students to
meet their unique needs and interests.
Odyssey can be an arts school while New
Tech can be a STEM school.
It will ease the overcrowding and disruption
caused by the re -purposing of Claire E. Gale.
It will use project -based learning—a concept
the district is embracing and hopes will trickle
down to other schools.
It will bring aproject-based school to 7thand
8thgrade students as well as high school
students.
Less disruptions for some students—no need
to attend 4 schools in 4 years.
Provide more technology without having to
integrate into the district's technology
infrastructure.
Provide arts education most schools ignore
Music
Drama
Dance
Video production
It will bring students to the district that are not
presently served:
students outside the district (Rigby to Shelley)
charter school students
home school students.
This increases the district's overall student
population.
We would love to work with
Idaho Falls School District
#91!
