Alex is excited to go. He has packed his suitcase and told everyone in his class about his trip. Alex’s dad has been on many big airplanes. He told Alex that they will fly so high that they will be above the clouds! Alex cannot even imagine this. On the day Alex and his family were leaving, they got to the airport an hour early. His mom had their tickets and checked in their luggage. As Alex waited in line, he could feel his heart pounding rapidly. When he got on the airplane, he saw the pilot standing in the front. She was wearing a dark purple suit with lots of stripes on the arm. She waved and let him look inside the cockpit. There were more buttons than Alex could have dreamed! When the plane took off, Alex was astounded by its speed. He never thought such a gigantic machine would fly, but it did. As they got high in the sky, Alex saw the buildings getting smaller. When they got above the clouds, Alex thought he was in heaven! It was incredible. After many hours the pilot announced that they would be landing shortly. Alex was upset because he did not want his trip to be over. Fortunately, his father reminded him that they still had a whole other flight home. 14 29 44 59 73 74 88 102 116 131 146 158 171 185 198 211 223 237 249 Total Words Read:______ - # of Errors:______ = CWPM:______
