Superintendent's Report — Dr. Murdoch reported that Qwest had filed a petition in federal court
disputing its property values for the last three years. A judge has made a ruling in favor of
Qwest, and as a result, tax districts in the state of Idaho will be making refunds to Qwest. Our
district's refund will be $148,249.37.
Dr. Murdoch noted the passing of one of the district bus drivers, Polly Marquez. He also noted
that his sister had this day received a heart transplant and was doing well.
Supt. Murdoch introduced Craig Ashton, who gave a demonstration of two new software
packages:
1) Leader's Edge — this software tracks student growth in RIT scores and would be a
great help to administrators. Developed by NWEA, this software gives information
in many different sub groups, allowing teachers and administrators to see student
needs.
2) Academic Accelerator — this software is used in school planning, curriculum, and
testing. This software is a good match with our district, navigating through
instruction, growth, proficiency, and achievement. The company has offered to
pilot this in Idaho Falls on a limited basis.
Leader's Edge is available now, and Academic Accelerator may be piloted in the future.
