HomeMy WebLinkAboutAthletic and Activities Coordinator 3-2018March 2018 TITLE: Coordinator of Athletics & Activities – High School QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate. Valid Idaho Administrator’s Certificate or completing a program leading to this certificate. Minimum of four years of full-time certificated experience working with students, Pre-K-12, while under contract in a school setting. Minimum of three years of successful coaching experience. Ability to work with students, staff, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building Principal JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To provide high school students with an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular or co-curricular activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport, and the principles of fair play. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares the annual athletic budget for the high school, middle school and for extra-curricular and co-curricular travel. Maintains a purchasing procedure for all extra-curricular and co-curricular equipment and supplies. Approves all extra-curricular and co-curricular purchase requests prior to ordering. Maintains current inventory records for all athletic equipment. Reviews the eligibility of students in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Completes necessary IHSAA forms for students participating in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Disseminates all appropriate information regarding policies, directives, etc., to building administration, coaches and advisors. Coordinates CPR training and ASEP or NFICEP certification for all coaches. Attends state competitions when needed as per the request of building principals. Assures that officials have been assigned and paid. Serves as Tournament Director for the Emotion Bowl and for all Tiger/Grizz events i.e. track, wrestling, cross country, etc. in cooperation with the Athletic and Activities Coordinator from the other high school. Attends all athletic competitions between Skyline High School and Idaho Falls High School. Coordinates the supervision and game management for all home game events. Is responsible for the scheduling of all IHSAA sanctioned athletic contests involving the high school and middle school. Prior to finalizing schedules for each sport, input will be requested from building administration and coaches. Coordinates transportation for athletic teams and activity groups. Attends all meetings at the district, conference, region, and state level that involve scheduling. Reports pertinent information to building administrators upon return. Prepares a master athletic schedule for the year. Coordinates with building principals to ensure that conflicts are avoided. Is responsible for maintenance, security, scheduling and set up of Ravsten Stadium, track and locker rooms. Partners with district Operations to provide all custodial and maintenance services to the facility. Attends all scheduled athletic director meetings as needed and approved by the building principal at the district, conference, regional, and state level. Reports pertinent information to building administrators upon return. Acts as the liaison person between the Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation Commission and the district, attending commission meetings on a regular basis. Oversees sports post-season awards ceremonies. Facilitates athlete’s awareness of safety including but not limited to nutrition, concussion, conditioning, and overall injury treatment and prevention. Acts as a liaison person between the IHSAA, the school and the district. Works with the middle school administration to interview and hire all middle school athletic positions. Completes annual performance evaluations of each program director and ensures program directors have evaluated assistant coaches. Ensures that program directors involve middle school administrators for input and review when evaluating middle school coaches. Is responsible for overseeing a portion of the students as assigned for student success. Serves as the high school’s Title IX Compliance Officer for athletics. Works with building principals and district administration to ensure and maintain Title IX compliance. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth for self, coaches and team captains. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a teacher, the Idaho Code of Ethics, and the negotiated contract. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Administrator’s Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education, including an extended contract and stipend as appropriate. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal in accordance with provisions of board policy.
