HomeMy WebLinkAboutCurriculum and SD positionIdaho Falls School District #91 FLSA Status-Exempt January 2019 TITLE: Coordinator of Secondary Curriculum and Staff Development QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Idaho teaching or administrative Certificate. Master’s degree in curriculum or administration. Minimum of four years of full-time certificated experience working with students, Pre-K -12, while under contract in a school setting. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education JOB GOALS: To provide support in the District’s K-12 instructional program, through facilitating the development, implementation, and coordination of the District’s K-12 curriculum and professional development program. To help teachers translate curriculum goals and objectives into meaningful learning experiences for each individual student in the district. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in proposed and ongoing curriculum development projects. Meets with teachers to interpret and help implement the district’s curriculum. Assists in the construction and evaluation of classroom testing instruments. Serves as the committee chair in coordinating the selection of instructional supplies, equipment, and books. Assists principals as requested in the effective use of the written curriculum. Assists in the planning of professional and staff development to help raise the level of instructional performance. Assists with providing effective professional development and staff development activities that incorporate the mission and goals of the district, program evaluation outcomes, and input from teachers and principals. Plan and implement professional and staff development activities for administrative, certified and classified employees and assist building principals and teachers in planning professional and staff development activities at the school level. Recommends curriculum resources to meet the special learning needs of exceptional children. Serves at the request of principals as adviser and special consultant. Coordinates the design and construction of written curriculum documents aligned with state standards. Engages, as assigned, in research related to curriculum development. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. Prepare periodic reports for presentation to the district administrators, the Board of Trustees, and/or other community groups as appropriate. Assist with program evaluation through the use of classroom observation data, assessment data, grades, and stakeholder surveys. Coordinate distribution of curriculum materials to classrooms and inventory surplus curriculum materials. Facilitate the development, articulation, and implementation of an instructional program in compliance with mandated curriculum requirements and regulations. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The annual contract will be based on 229 days of service. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Administrator’s Salary Schedule commensurate with years of administrative experience and education. EVALUATION: Performance if this position will be evaluated annually by the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education in accordance with board policy.
