HomeMy WebLinkAboutEnglish Language Learner CoachMarch 2016 TITLE: Instructional Coach – English Language Learners QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated success as a teacher Strong communication skills and the ability to coach/mentor others Experience using research-based instructional practices for English language learners Knowledge and understanding of WIDA standards and assessments Experience in curriculum development, professional development and data interpretation Ability to implement and monitor best practices in language acquisition and differentiation for English language learners Demonstrated effective use of instructional and assessment technology Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate endorsed for appropriate levels and subjects Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO: Student Achievement Director JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. The Instructional Coach, as part of the Student Achievement and School Improvement team, will work with building principals, intervention specialists, classroom teachers and paraeducators to provide direct support and assistance in the classroom to facilitate implementation of adopted curriculum, use of effective instructional strategies, use of data to improve student achievement and compliance with Title I/Title III guidance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Form strong professional relationships with colleagues Communicate effectively with administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals Assist teachers in the development and implementation of Educational Learning Plans (ELPs) for English learners Interpret and explain ACCESS English language proficiency scores to all stakeholders Assist teachers in developing and implementing research-based instructional strategies to increase the academic achievement of English language learners Provide model teaching lessons or side-by-side coaching for content-area teachers on differentiated instruction and assessment for English learners Assist school-based teams as they gather, analyze and interpret data to improve teaching and learning Use data to monitor and evaluate program implementation Provide professional development to small or large groups of educators Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or District patrons Have regular and predictable attendance This organization believes that every individual makes a significant contribution to our success. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a teacher, the Idaho Code of Ethics, and the negotiated contract. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Teacher’s Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Achievement and School Improvement as part of the teacher evaluation process in accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement and board policy.
