HomeMy WebLinkAboutGifted Faciliator - ElemJanuary 2006 TITLE: Gifted Facilitator - Elementary QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education, classes in gifted education preferred. Valid Idaho Standard Elementary certificate. A minimum of three years experience as a successful teacher in an elementary setting. Demonstrated ability to use current educational computer software. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To provide gifted students with advanced learning and enrichment activities, experiences, and opportunities in specifically designated areas of curriculum. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as case manager, following state and local guidelines for identification of able learners or the PACE program at assigned elementary schools. Follows district guidelines for identifying Talent Pool students at assigned schools. Teaches/facilitates appropriate curricular activities to PACE and Talent Pool students from assigned schools. Provides classroom enrichment materials in reading and math as requested at each grade level in assigned elementary schools. Assists with the fall Project SUN (outdoor education) field trip activities as requested. Participates in PACE program parent activities as requested. Maintains records for students placed in the PACE program from assigned schools. Assists with curriculum development for gifted children. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned consistent with the responsibilities of a teacher, the Idaho Code of Ethics, and the negotiated contract. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Teacher’s Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the negotiated master agreement and board policy.
