HomeMy WebLinkAboutStudent Assist Program CoordNovember 2007 TITLE: Student Assistance Program Coordinator. QUALIFICATIONS: Formal training or commensurate experience in drug education. Ability to work and communicate with staff, students, and the public. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed. Standard Idaho Teacher’s Certificate or Counselor’s Certificate preferred. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Federal Programs. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To develop and coordinate the substance abuse and violence prevention programs for the District and to work with state and county agencies to prevent substance abuse and help those students who have difficulties with such problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Meets with individual school administrators to discuss current needs and concerns and to set annual goals and priorities for each school related to substance abuse and school violence. Provides building level consultation services and staff support for drug prevention and student assistance programs in each District school as well as Westview Alternative School and the 3B Juvenile Detention Center. Develops an “umbrella” of services using curriculums, intervention strategies, and supportive agencies which will promote safe and drug free schools and foster positive educational experiences, i.e., IMPACT, Conflict Mediators, Developing Capable People, Resiliency and Asset Training, Character Education. Assists school staff in the facilitation of IMPACT programs: Works with the Core Teams on an as needed basis to advise and assist on interventions. Provides IMPACT trainings and refreshers as needed. Works with Core Teams to set up workshops/in-service for the school faculty. Coordinates/provides drug and school violence assessments as necessary. Assists parents and students in following through on the subsequent recommendations. Acts as a liaison between the District and community supportive agencies, such as Court & Clinical Services, law enforcement, DARE, 3B Juvenile Detention Center, treatment and other community agencies as needed. Represents the District at regional consortium meetings and conferences. Assists as needed with the completion and analysis of District Drug Surveys and needs assessments. Administers drug and alcohol assessments as requested by building and district administrators. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a half-time position scheduled for 210 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board Policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Certified Salary Schedule commensurate with years of education and experience. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Federal Programs in accordance with the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
