Suitable experience and competency in major math functions. Strong computer skills. Working knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of office equipment and machines. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To maintain complete and accurate attendance records for each student so as to assist administrators in minimizing the interruptions and dislocations caused by faulty attendance in the education of each student. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with staff, administrators, students and parents to ensure student attendance is recorded and reported accurately. Gathers information from various sources, including parents, healthcare providers, teachers, students, and the student information system, and organizes this information to help administrators make decisions about students and their education. Enters and updates data in the student information system as needed including attendance and changes to student information. Creates and maintains a filing system as needed for parent and healthcare provider notes and other required student information. Notifies administrators of students with unexcused absences, truancies, or excessive absences. Follows up with teachers when appropriate. Welcomes visitors graciously and assists them as needed. Places and receives telephone calls cordially and accurately records messages. Delivers messages to staff members as requested. Updates the automated call handler as needed. Maintains a professional awareness of regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge of state law, Board policy and administrative regulations. Gathers information, creates timelines, and prepares paperwork folders for the credit review committee meeting, and then prepares and sends correspondence as needed. Prints and distributes daily homework requests, and then collects and distributes homework to students who attend school through the juvenile justice system, supervised suspension or other temporary locations. Supervises all student aides working in the attendance office. Makes referrals to Court and Clinical, completes the required paperwork, and then contacts Court and Clinical. Completes required paperwork for disciplinary referrals and files in the student’s file. Disburses medication in the nurse’s absence. Completes routine clerical duties as requested including ordering supplies, preparing correspondence, delivering messages and materials, and contacting students for administrators. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 187 days per year. The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the school and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
