Minimum of five years of public accounting or business management experience. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. CPA or MBA preferred. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and applicable. REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources and Finance IV. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement. To ensure that the school district derives the maximum benefits from the prudent expenditure of every school dollar. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews, re-establishes and enforces policies and procedures related to all accounting systems within the District. Establishes a formal purchasing department to ensure the best/cheapest cost effective purchasing practices. Establishes values and monitors updates to all real and personal property of the District. Coordinates and oversees the annual fiscal audit with independent audit firm. Monitors cash flows of the District and suggests interim investment opportunities for temporarily idle cash. Provides inservice for appropriate personnel within the schools of the District relating to established business policies and procedures. Oversees purchasing, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions of the Business Office as requested. Assists with budget preparation and budget compliance within the District. Assists with collective bargaining process as requested. Has regular and predictable attendance Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs internal control audits as requested. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 245 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Salary will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 14 to 16. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. VII. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Human Resources and Finance in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. The majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk, analyzing and organizing data, working on the computer, completing paperwork, and answering the telephone. Work beyond the normally scheduled hours is required. Movement within the office is required to deliver documents and messages and gather information as needed. Travel to the District schools and offsite meeting locations is required.
