Proficiency in secretarial skills of typing, filing, office procedures, operations of office equipment and machines, etc. Strong computer skills. Basic understanding of librarian procedures and duties. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public. Basic knowledge of choral, band, and orchestra music and instruments. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Music Coordinator. JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91’s written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Music Office so that the maximum positive impact on the education of children can be achieved. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Processes incoming and outgoing correspondence as instructed. Places and receives telephone calls cordially and accurately records messages. Orders supplies for the music library and for the music specialists. Maintains a record of copy machine usage and supplies ordered. Ensures that the teacher’s school inventory is current and is turned in at the end of each year. Maintains a current inventory for the District Music Library for band, choir, and orchestra. Keeps accurate records of music checked in or out of the District Music Library. Maintains a regular filing system for the District Music Library. Stamps new music, numbers envelopes, types check out cards, and fills music orders. Ensures that teacher demo instruments are checked in at the end of the year. Types receipts and bonds for each instruments and makes sure that each instrument has a receipt and bond in the case. Assists with instrument check ins and outs, records and inventory. Reserves and makes sure that each district musical instruments is tagged for summer music and for the following year. Sends out reminders to music teachers regarding monthly staff meetings. Takes minutes of monthly staff meetings. Processes transportation requests, work orders, purchase requests, applications for trip approval, etc. Maintains the music master calendar, listing events, dates, times and locations. Tracks elementary and orchestral music staff attendance, including substitute teacher records. Types programs, counts and distributes flyers, takes tickets, etc., for the District 91 Musical, Missoula Children’s Theatre, Summer Music Program, etc. Coordinates radio announcements and newspaper advertising for District 91 musical productions and Missoula Children’s Theatre as requested. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Has regular and predictable attendance. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is scheduled for 6 hours per day, 210 days per year. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5. This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The “employment at will” policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Music Coordinator in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
